Qi Gong
ABOUT QI GONG
Qigong is the ancient Chinese science that has been more than a thousand years.
Qigong practice focus on maintaining the balance of body and mind. The practice is a physical movement that combines breathing and mental harmoniously.
It is considered as a form of meditation, which is a moving meditation practice to calm the mind while the body moves. Qi means life energy or internal energy. Gong means movement or working.
Qi Gong philosophy
Consists of breathing, movement and mind.
When 3 things combines together will become Qi (life energy).
Preparation For Beginners
- You should wear comfortable and flexible cloth.
- You should not wear shoes. The better way is bare feet to expose your bare feet to nature as well as transferring good energy, such as grass field, ground, etc.
Physical preparation: The practitioner should have a good condition of body and mind as follows:
- You should not be too full or hungry.
- You should not have a high fever (If you have a low fever, you may practice Prana to reduce the fever.)
- You should have excreted before practising. This is because the practice may stimulate internal organs, which causes a feeling of defecation while practising.
- Good mood in Chinese medicine terms is very important. As mentioned in the seven emotions, such as angry, glad, fear, shock, anxiety, and worry. These can injure our internal organs. For example, if you are angry while practising Qi gong, the circulation of Qi power is not as pure as it should be. The result of the practice may not be so good. Therefore, the emotion of practising Qi gong should be the desire of the heart and positive emotions to the good results of practice.
Location
The sources of Qi come from three big sources, such as sunlight, ground, and air. The environment with these three powers is the ideal location to practice:
- Soft sunlight in the morning or afternoon. If the sun is strong, it should be under the tree or under the eaves.
- Well ventilated, such as the large trees, they clear forests on the mountain (not a dense forest.
- Good ground, whether the ground, wood or grass, which can be comfortably stepped barefoot while practising. In case of inappropriate location, it is recommended to wear shoes while practising to prevent bad energy from the environment and prevent loss of heat through the soles, especially while standing on a cool floor, such as brick, terrazzo or cement (in the case that you cannot wear shoes, you may use thick cotton sheets instead) or choose any good energy locations.
